City of Centerville appoints Tapogna as Arts Program Coordinator

Centerville City Manager Greg Horn has announced the appointment of Angie Tapogna as the City’s new Arts Program Coordinator to be effective immediately. Familiar with this community, after having served as the Create the Vision Project Manager for the last year and a half, Ms. Tapogna will continue to perform the duties of that position as well.

Create the Vision’s Implementation Task Force held their last meeting of the year in October and due to a large number of the strategies being completed or in process, set their next meeting date to be May 9, 2007. “We’re pleased to expand Angie’s involvement in this community with her new appointment. Her current work load was scaled back at the same time the City’s former Arts Coordinator resigned,” said Horn, Centerville’s City Manager. “Ms. Tapogna is the natural choice to link with the City’s Arts Commission now,” he added.

For the last year and a half, Ms. Tapogna has worked closely with city and township leaders and the 14-member volunteer Implementation Task Force. “We’ve been very happy with her work and the success Ms. Tapogna has accomplished with Create the Vision,” said Brooks Compton, Co-Chair of the Implementation Task Force and Centerville City Councilmember. “We feel she will have just as much success with the Arts Commission,” he said. Ms. Tapogna will assist in coordinating the city’s summer arts festival, summer concert series, Art on the Trace, and the wealth of other programs of the Centerville Arts Commission.

Tom Zobrist, Co-Chair of the Implementation Task Force and Fiscal Officer for Washington Township said, “We are very happy and supportive of Ms. Tapogna moving into this new role. We know she will do well.”

Ms. Tapogna will attend her first Arts Commission meeting on December 6th. “I’m so thrilled,” said Tapogna. “The arts have always been a passion of mine, and I even served as an Arts Commissioner about nine years ago in Edmonds, Washington. While continuing to wrap up the duties of Project Manager next year, I’m pleased to become the City’s Arts Program Coordinator, a permanent position where I can make a lasting impact on this community,” she said.

Create the Vision is the first joint Comprehensive Plan for Centerville and Washington Township, and is the guiding policy document that provides long-term direction about how, where, and what type of growth should occur.
