The public is invited to attend an Open House on June 14th at 7:00 p.m. to celebrate Create the Vision’s second anniversary. “It was June 14, 2004 when Washington Township and the City of Centerville first adopted the Create the Vision Community Plan,” said Tom Zobrist, Fiscal Officer for Washington Township. Zobrist now co-chairs the Create the Vision Implementation Task Force – a group of citizen volunteers who provide guidance and advice on growth and development in the community.
Create the Vision is the first-ever joint Comprehensive Plan for Washington Township and the City of Centerville. For land use and development regulations in the community, it is the guiding policy document that provides long-term direction about how and where growth should occur.
The Open House will be held in the Lecture Hall of Rec West, the newly renovated Cinemas Building located next to the Washington Township Recreation Center. Create the Vision’s Annual Report, an update on the implementation status of 198 strategies, will be presented to the public.
“We are excited to be hosting this open house in the new Rec West building,” said Zobrist, “for most people it will be their first opportunity to see this updated facility. It also dovetails nicely with the Create the Vision plan in which many objectives and strategies emphasize the expansion of recreation centers and programs.” Rec West also contains a new Teen Center to be utilized by the Youth Council that is called for in Create the Vision.
