Some two years ago, citizens from Centerville and Washington Township began a planning process designed to guide development of the community for the next 20 years. They called the process “Create the Vision” and adopted a logo with the emphasis on “create.”
City and township officials accepted plan in June and appointed a task force to implement the eight goals, nine study areas, 51 objectives and 198 strategies.
“With the design of the plan in place,” Task Force Co-chairman and Centerville City Councilman Brooks Compton said, “the task force has shifted the emphasis from ‘create' to ‘vision.'”
“We are now about the business of implementing the plan step by step,” Tom Zobrist, Task Force Co-chairman and Township Clerk-Treasurer, said. “The vision expressed in our community plan is in the early stages of taking shape and our new logo reflects that.”
The logo has been re-designed to say that the vision that has been designed by the citizens of our community in a series of public meetings is becoming a reality.

The new logo retains the slogan “Our Community, Our Future” and keeps the yellow and black color combination.
The task force has been meeting regularly since the spring and has formed three subcommittees — Land Use and Community Appearance; Parks and Recreation, Community Service and Education; and Economic Development, Transportation and Utilities.
